PBIS:
Positive Behavior
Intervention and Supports

La Verne Elementary Preparatory Academy (LEPA) is dedicated to empowering our students to become lifelong learners and to achieve excellence in all areas of their lives. We understand that the path to success is not only defined by academic achievement but also by the behaviors and values we nurture in our students. At LEPA, we strive to create a balanced environment where students are supported both academically and socially, ensuring they develop the skills necessary to thrive in and outside the classroom.

As part of this commitment, LEPA has implemented Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a proactive framework designed to improve student behavior, foster a positive school culture, and promote a safe and productive learning environment. PBIS is applied consistently across all areas of the school—from classrooms to the playground, lunchroom, restrooms, library, hallways, and the MPR—ensuring that all students have the tools they need to succeed and contribute positively to our community.

We are proud to announce that LEPA received the Bronze Level Award for Year 1 Implementation of PBIS during the 2016-2017 school year. This recognition reflects our school’s strong foundation in establishing clear behavioral expectations, reinforcing positive behaviors, and addressing challenges proactively. As we transition into Year 2 of PBIS, we are excited to build on our initial success and continue refining our strategies to better support our student’s growth.

At LEPA, we are committed to teaching, reinforcing, and acknowledging positive behavior in all aspects of student life. One key component of our PBIS system is the P.R.I.D.E. initiative, which encourages students and staff to embody the following values:

  • Proactive
  • Respect
  • Integrity
  • Diligence
  • Ensure Safety

By instilling these five key values, we aim to equip our scholars with the social and emotional skills they need to become responsible, empathetic, and engaged citizens. These values serve as a guide in our daily interactions, ensuring that LEPA remains a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment for all.
