ASSESSMENTS
At LEPA, we believe that every student has the potential to grow, succeed, and achieve academic excellence. We are committed to using student data to better understand each child’s strengths, identify areas for improvement, and provide the support they need to reach their full potential.
Our focus goes beyond completing classwork and homework. We want students to develop a strong understanding of what they are learning, demonstrate mastery of grade-level standards, and show measurable growth on academic assessments.
Throughout the school year, we use a variety of assessments to monitor student learning and guide instruction, including:
- DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment): Measures reading abilities, comprehension, and progress.
- i-Ready Assessments: Identify strengths and areas for growth in reading and mathematics.
- IABs (Interim Assessment Blocks): Measure student understanding of specific academic standards and support preparation for state assessments.
- Formative Assessments: Provide ongoing feedback about student learning and help teachers adjust instruction.
- Informative Assessments: Provide additional insights into student progress and academic needs.
- Writing Assessments: Evaluate students’ writing skills and track their development over time.
- State Testing (CAASPP): Measures student achievement in relation to California’s academic standards and provides valuable information about college and career readiness and overall academic performance.
At LEPA, assessments are more than just scores. They are tools that help us make informed instructional decisions. Our teachers analyze student data to identify learning gaps, personalize instruction, provide targeted interventions, and challenge students to reach higher levels of achievement.
We use assessment results throughout the school year to monitor progress, adjust teaching strategies, and help students build the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the classroom and on state assessments.
